tyre maintenance tips.
Maintaining your tyres is better for your safety and your wallet. A well maintained tyre typically lasts longer, saving you money in the long term.

For the safety and comfort of you and anyone who travels in your car (most commonly your loved ones), you need to make sure that your tyres are well maintained.

Don’t forget that it is also illegal to drive around on tyres that are not roadworthy! But more importantly, it’s also worth remembering that non-maintained tyres can be dangerous. Non-maintained tyres can cause you to have an accident, also leading to higher repair bills than you may have paid had you just got your tyres fixed when you should have.

Skipping tyre maintenance may also shorten the lifespan of your tyres, costing you more in the long run.

So, for safety and economical reasons, we recommend regular tyre maintenance.

In this article, we wanted to share with you some basic tyre maintenance tips to improve the life of your tyres and to help keep you and your loved ones safe.

Regularly rotation and alignment of your tyres

One way to improve the life of your tyres is to ensure that they are regularly rotated and that each time your rate your tyres you give them a wheel alignment. The tyres at the front of your car wear out much quicker than the ones at the rear, so it is important to make sure you rotate them. Regular rotation and alignment means wear and tear of tyres occurs more evenly.

Ensuring that your tyres always have the right tyre pressure

Tyres with proper pressure levels help you in two major ways- Driving on properly inflated tyres helps you save on petrol, and it will also help you keep proper traction and keep better control of your car. Further, making sure that your tyres have the correct pressure levels at all times can go a long way to increasing their longevity. The proper tyre pressure range can usually be found in your user's manual, on the label on your door, or on the inside of the fuel flap.

Regularly checking your tread depth

While not so much a maintenance issue, it is important that you regularly check the tread depth on your tyres when you are checking their tyre pressure. Each brand, model and type of tyre has its own tread depth in order to make sure that they provide you with the best possible traction and control when driving in any condition. Proper tread depth will help you avoid dangerous incidents such as aquaplaning - it is your tyre tread that helps disperse water so that your tyres keep traction on the road, even in the wet. Keeping an eye on your tyres wear and tear is key in making sure their tread depth does not get too low.

Also, keep in mind that dropping below the minimum tread depth is not only unsafe but illegal too and you may incur a hefty fine.

Replace your tyres when needed

It may seem obvious, but replace your tyres when needed. Driving on tyres that need replacing is highly dangerous.
